New Feature: Search the Jblogs!

With the power of the new Google “Make your own search engine” feature, we cooked up a brand new search box for our site. This box will let you search ALL of the blogs included in our site including all of the old posts. You can find it on the left upper corner of our site and it is completely free! Or you can just click here to use it.

War Time Edition Launched

In lights with the recent events in Israel, we launched a special war time edition of JblogSphere.Net right here:

It includes the most recent Jblog posts from our main page as well as breaking news from the major English language Israeli newspapers and media sources: Jerusalem Post, Haaretz, Yedioth Acharanoth, Jerusalem Newswire, Arutz Sheva/Israel National News. In addition we also have a list of recent Google news headlines for Israel.

Quick Statistics Added

As of today, we are starting to collect statistics on overall posts and posts/blog. For now we are displaying the following stats on the front page:

Total number of blogs in the system:
Number of blogs posting on a given day:
Number of posts on the frontpage:
Average Number of posts / blog / day:

The information on statistics has been added to the FAQ.

ALSO:

There are stats available on individual blogs as well (number of posts / day). These will be put up at some point in the future.

PodCast Feature

With the addition of the Sameach Music Podcast which is the first podcast added to the site, we added an extra icon to indicate podcasts. The icon looks as follows:

It will appear to the left of any post that has an attached podcast (the icon was made by Tim Madden and licensed under CC Attribution License).

New Features

We have added some small features :

• A new RSS feed that only has the last 25 headlines
• You can now put the list of headlines on your own site
• You can also put a list of all blog sources on your own site
• Source lists refresh immideatly

And last but note least:

• The front page now reloads automatically in your browser every 15 minutes! That means that you can leave your browser window open to JBlogSphere.net all day long and still get the latest headlines!

Our Third Day

It’s been three days since our official launch and things have been great! We now have 99 blogs syndicating through our site and several members of the J-Blogosphere have mentioned us (thank you SerandEz, Elder of Zion, Soccer Dad and Chaim). We have also added some small enhancements:

• Links open in a new window
• The RSS feed is smaller
• Amazon ads are being displayed in addition to Google ads
• FAQ and ToDo pages have been added
